Our Designation as a Level II Trauma Center: What it means for you

This designation could mean the difference between life and death.

Level II trauma center may not sound a big title, but the designation is poised to have a significant impact on the residents serviced by Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.

RMCBP is the only state-verified Level II trauma center in Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties. In being a Level II trauma center, RMCBP is working toward reducing the mortality rate among trauma victims by providing faster and more comprehensive treatment.

Comprehensive care

As a Level II trauma center, the medical professionals at RMCBP are able to treat complex and severe traumas because the center has dedicated resources available 24 hours a day, including operating rooms, surgeons, diagnostic equipment, and specially trained doctors.

Close to home

By having a Level II trauma center at RMCBP, you and your family have excellent care nearby. Now, you don't have to waste precious time traveling into Tampa or St. Petersburg for trauma care.

Better survival rates

Studies show that trauma victims have a much better chance of recovery when a full assessment and treatment gets underway in the first hour. Studies has shown as much as a 25 percent reduction in mortality for patients treated at trauma centers when compared to patients treated at non-trauma centers. By avoiding long travel times to Tampa or St. Petersburg, and having comprehensive care available, survival and recovery rates are expected to increase.
