Arrhythmias are most commonly diagnosed with the use of electrocardiograms (EKGs) or with Holter Monitors or Event Recorders, which are portable electrocardiogram devices. These heart monitoring tests—accompanied by a physical examination, and sometimes x-rays and blood work—help a doctor in determining the type and severity of arrhythmia in patients. There are several treatment options for arrhythmias, and your doctor will determine the appropriate treatment based on your symptoms and the severity of your arrhythmia.
