The American College of Radiology (ACR), a national organization serving over 32,000 members, awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practice. The evaluations are conducted by board certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the quality of the personnel and facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s committee on accreditation, which subsequently provides a practice with a comprehensive report.
The nuclear medicine department of Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point met testing quality and image quality standards 100% on its application on its first attempt at accreditation.
